Pre-Vetting Inspection
Sea Waterline provide Pre-Vetting Inspections in Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Oceania for Oil & Chemical Tankers, Bulk Carriers, Ro-Ro Car Carriers and Livestock Carriers. We are experts in understanding the assessment process and requirements of SIRE, CDI, OVID and RightShip. We provide independent advice on potential gaps, risks and how to mitigate them.
SIRE/CDI/OVID/RIGHTSHIP
SIRE (Ship Inspection Report Program) oversee standardised safety inspection programs with relation to the shipping of oil. CDI (Chemical Distribution Institute) oversee standardised safety inspection programs with relation to the shipping of chemicals. These are the two world leaders in safety inspection programs for their respective industries. They are typical used by bulk oil shipping operators, bulk chemical shipping operators, charter operators, port authorities, and Government bodies concerned with ship safety.
Ship Inspection Report Program (SIRE)
SIRE stands for Ship Inspection Report Program, which was introduced by the OCIMF ( Oil Companies International Marine Forum) in 1993 as a safety initiative to increase safety in shipping. The program enables an international inspection standard which enforces participating ships to be well maintained resulting in safer ships and cleaner seas. SIRE maintains a database of inspection data. The standardisation of inspections makes it cost effective for participants to undertake testing whilst knowing exactly what they are being inspected for.
The Chemical Distribution Institute (CDI)
The Chemical Distribution Institute (CDI) is a non-profit organisation responsible for the inspection and audit of the storage and transport of bulk chemicals. The CDI determines best practice for transportation and storage of chemicals in relation to reducing risk and increasing security and safety. They provide inspection standards that allow chemical companies to adhere to international legislations in a cost effective manner.
The Offshore Vessel Inspection Database (OVID)
The Offshore Vessel Inspection Database (OVID) provides information to OCIMF members based on SIRE format.
